Khorol (earlier – Yaroslav), a town in Poltava region, was given Magdeburg rights in XVI century. Lubny, the nearest city, has awarded Magdeburg rights in 1651. The main body of local self-government in Khorol is a community which balances public opinion and governmental decisions.
